ADOPT A CORAL, HELP REBUILD THE REEF!

We are delighted to announce our partnership with Reef Construction Limited led by marine environmentalist and reef specialist Jonathan Hernould. At Reef Construction Limited, their mission is to restore coral reefs through coral restoration projects and programmes.

  • Jamaica’s coral reefs have been in decline for several decades.
  • Bleaching events, disease, overfishing, hurricanes, and waste dumping are the largest contributing factors which have led to a loss of over 90% of live coral coverage in Jamaica.
  • Coral reefs act as natural barriers against swells, waves, and storms, protecting beaches and shorelines from erosion.
  • Coral reefs are one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on the planet, supporting more than one-quarter of all marine species.
  • Coral reefs are also an integral part of the Blue Economy and Eco-tourism and must be considered a pillar on which coastal tourism is based.

Doctor Bird Services (DBS) is committed to supporting Reef Construction Limited on its journey to restoring Jamaica’s coral reefs. With every turnkey signature experience package redeemed through the DBS platform, DBS will be gifting our clients their very own coral with the option to adopt more.

How can you help?

With the “Adopt a Coral” program, the aim is to enable each of our customers to make a financial contribution to reef rehabilitation, by adopting one or more coral. Once you have adopted your coral, you will receive a certification of adoption, as well as a bi-monthly newsletter, updating you on the health of your coral, its position, and the state of the reef. By contributing to this worthy cause, you are making a direct contribution to maintaining and protecting the life of our Jamaican reefs.
